What is CLC® certification?
CLC is a credential for managers and organizational leaders offered by the Workplace Coach. The designation has been filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office and can only be used by individuals who complete our designation program. It is a broad-based program that addresses 5 areas of management expertise as defined by our Leadership Essentials® Competency Model.

Who can apply for the CLC®?
Professionals, managers and organizational leaders with a minimum of 3 years related work experience may apply. It is not a designation designed for professional coaches.

What does CLC® cover?
The CLC competency testing process requires candidates to pass both a knowledge exam and an oral experiential exam – demonstrating their ability to effectively use coaching skills in workplace situations. The knowledge exam is made up of multiple choice questions, true/false questions and short answer questions and is completed by module via eLearning, or in person for a corporate sponsored project.

How much studying/preparation time is required?
It takes a minimum of 10 hours to complete eLearning Modules and related activities. Plus candidates must be mentored by a Master Certified Coach (MCC) on management and coaching skills implementation/demonstration topics. Most candidates complete the program in 12 weeks. Our accelerated program can be completed in only 6 weeks.

What is the pass rate for the exams?
Currently, approximately 75% of candidates obtain a passing score.
Re-certification Program
The CLC credential is valid for 3 years. Re-certification is earned either through testing or professional development. If the professional development (CEUs) option is selected CLCs must accumulate 10 coach specific training hours within the three year re-certification period. The re-certification is verified by an audit review process.
